Meadowlark Fields Country House is
located on 53 pastoral acres, approximately
four miles south of Athens. The home was built
in 1913, and has been refurbished keeping all the
warmth and character of days gone by.
Meadowlark Fields Country House has five bed-
rooms, four with private baths,3 sitting rooms,
large porches, and will sleep up to 10.
Bruce Peil's Art Studio is house in the updated
1940's dairy barn. Art workshops and lessons
with Bruce are available weekly, and bi-monthly.
The winding creek, hundred year old trees, the
original 1930's faded red hay barn and pastoral
views make for great painterly subject matter,
and a wonderful place to simply relax!

PURTIS CREEK STATE PARK

Purtis Creek is located near Eustace and is best known for its trophy largemouth bass. The lake is 360 acres in size. A special provision allows a maximum of 50 fishing boats on the lake at any one time and a no-wake rule is strictly enforced. This is a Texas Parks & Wildlife Department lake, so no fishing license is required. The park has a State Parks store, restrooms, showers, chemical toilet, tent sites, RV pad sites, water/electricity, dump station, is handicapped-accessible, hiking trails, picnic areas, group pavilions, amphitheater, designated swimming area, boat ramp, fishing pier and playground. Canoe and paddle boat rentals are also available at the park store.
